  1. there is no point in saying ‘fuck microsoft’…if you really felt so, you shouldn’t have attempted to use MS office live in the first place…there are various other options to it. True MS rebels do not crib, they just figure out alternatives, and evangelize those.

  2. @Kirtika – point accepted. but dear, my problem if they are trying to attract more users then why are they trying to restrict it to a platform. We know gone are the days of trying to have everything “the boss” way.If u have a killer service, then let it win why unnecessarily use the power of ur platform and deteriorate it.

  3. Well, sadly the management is to blame on this one. Why do you think people hate Steve Ballmer? 🙂 They think he is ruining the company with stupid business decisions; far removed from Bill Gates’ original goals of bringing computing to the masses.

That said, several /. articles made me believe that MSFT is actually viewing Linux as competition and perhaps they feel that these sort of measures will drive people away from the competition (see http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/02/25/2051223&from=rss; http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/02/25/232212&from=rss; and http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09%2F01%2F22%2F1914201&from=rss for poor management decisions).

I guess it’s again their tactics of trying to ride on one monopoly to promote their other products (for which they were sued all over the place); albeit, this time it is more of a negative tactic.
